The Cassia County Story

Cassia County is located along the Snake River in South Central Idaho. It is the 8th largest in area, covering 2,557 Square miles. Cassia County was created in 1872 and included parts of Twin Falls and Power counties. Burley has been the county seat since 1918 when it was moved from Albion. Within its borders is a variety of elevations. The highest peak is Cache Peak with an elevation of 10,339 feet. It holds trails early pioneers used, such as the Oregon and California trails. Home to many settlers who farmed, ranched, and built up this thriving community. The seven towns in Cassia County are, Burley, Declo, Albion, Oakley, Malta, Almo and Elba. Each with a unique background that adds to this county’s rich history.
